Cuckoo Fayre: tug-of-war, food, bars, crafts, kids attractions, dogs and…kippers
Organisers are hoping for a bumper turn-out for the much-loved Cuckoo Fayre, at the Recreation Ground on Bank Holiday Monday, May 4.
The Fayre, which dates back to the late 1970s and is organised by the Independent State of Cuckfield, starts at midday with a wide-ranging programme of attractions, including live music, stalls offering local produce, crafts, antiques, plant sales and community group displays. Fairground attractions will keep the kids busy. The Fayre’s popular tug‑of‑war and sack race are set for the afternoon alongside another big attraction, the dog show. There is also a ‘toss the barrel’ competition.
Food lovers can sample a variety of options, from burgers and Caribbean dishes to Italian, Indian, vegan, gourmet coffees, ice creams and a fully licensed bar.
Andrew Symonds’ famous kippers will be on sale. Pop them in a jug of boiling water for two minutes and they are ready to eat. No cooking required.
