Dramatic development by inspector during early stage of Cuck-Stye appeal hearing

In a dramatic development, government-appointed inspector, Joanna Gilbert, announced she will NOT be making a final decision on the proposed 1,450-home Ansty Farm development dubbed locally as Cuck-Stye.

Instead, she will make recommendations in a written report which will be sent to Steve Reed, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. He will make the final decision in Westminster.

The Appeal, being heard in chambers at Haywards Heath Town Council, will proceed as planned over the next two weeks. Members of the public remain welcome to attend sessions in the public gallery Tuesday-Friday from 9:30am. To see topics scheduled to be discussed day-by-day click here.

The Appeal proceedings are of great interest to many local residents, anxious for news and to understand what happens next. Here, at The Cuckfield Society, we will continue to follow the process closely and share updates on this website’s dedicated page.
